About 4th Sector Health
4th Sector Health is a USAID initiative that forms Alliances and Exchanges to advance development through health in Latin America and the Caribbean. We mobilize business, the community and health experts to bring sustainable solutions to the public health issues that affect equitable development, such as maternal and child health, reproductive health, and diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
Health and Development in Latin America
The Millenium Development Goals recognized that poverty is linked to health and that reducing maternal and child mortality and disease result in more productive and economically viable societies, as well as improved quality of life among individuals. While life expectancy and health have improved dramatically in the past 25 years, health challenges remain in Latin America and the Caribbean. 4th Sector Health works with corporate, government and NGO partners to develop solutions and activities to respond to these challenges.
