Increasing Health Programming Among Latin America’s Corporate Foundations

RedEAmérica and 4th Sector Health signed an agreement to develop a framework to guide RedEAmérica members' investments in grass-roots health programming.

RedEAmérica is a network of 63 corporate foundations from 12 Latin American countries and the United States. Founded in 2002, RedEAmérica’s mission is to help reduce poverty through the promotion of grassroots development. The organization’s members are committed to strengthening and funding programs to empower community membership organizations as a means sustainable development. RedEAmérica provides grants, loans and technical assistance to its projects, and supports member foundations by training on technical areas, evidence-based programming models and providing tools for evaluation.

The Alliance with 4th Sector Health will establish health as a core area of development to support organizational strengthening and resource mobilization. 4th Sector Health’s support will help to fund development of a framework of best practices for integrating health into community development programs among RedEAmérica’s members. In turn this will increase the support of health programs by the network’s members. The alliance will monitor the change and impact of health programs, following the implementation of the framework among its members. RedEAmérica has begun developing the new framework and expects to launch it among its members in October 2010.
