Exchanges

4th Sector Health supports both virtual and in-person exchanges on health topics in Latin America and the Caribbean to promote cross-fertilization of ideas and experiences. These activities in the region enhance the sustainability and success of existing health programs by enabling the sharing of best practices to improve the programs, prevent illness and disease and promote higher quality health service delivery.

South-to-South Exchanges:

South-to-south exchanges strengthen local institutions and technical skills among public health experts to respond to priority Health Challenges in the region. The topics of Exchanges are decided by the participants and driven by experts’ professional needs. They can therefore be highly varied, and may include study tours, on-the-job-mentoring, workshops or seminars. Exchange participants may be from governments, NGOs, educational, or private organizations. Previous south-to-south exchanges sponsored by 4th Sector Health include:

  • Family planning services organizations in Guatemala (APROFAM) and Paraguay (CEPEP) sharing experiences on voluntary surgical sterilization services and technical assistance. Learn more>>
  • Ministry of Health in Peru visited the Colombian Ministry to learn from their experiences in implementing Universal Health Insurance. Learn more>>
  • Researchers and policymakers from Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico convening to collaborate on the issue of human trafficking and HIV/AIDS. Learn more>>
If your organization would like the opportunity to learn from or share experiences with an organization in another country in the region on a health issue, contact us with your exchange suggestion.
