USAID Signs New Regional Partnership with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters

December 2011

Building upon 4th Sector Health’s alliance with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR), USAID and GMCR recently signed a new regional memorandum of understanding during USAID’s Public-Private Partnership week in October 2011.  4th Sector Health’s activities with GMCR focus on integrating health and nutrition for the populations being served through GMCR’s food security activities in Honduras and Nicaragua.   4th Sector Health facilitated this new regional partnership opportunity through joint meetings between GMCR and USAID’s Latin America Bureau.  The new partnership expands USAID and GMCR's existing joint projects in Brazil, Honduras and Nicaragua to the rest of the region. It will also link the U.S. Government's Feed the Future and Global Climate Change Initiatives to GMCR's support for the rural communities along its coffee supply chain. Future initiatives will focus on enhancing food security, improving nutrition and supporting climate change adaption in certain rural areas from which GMCR sources green coffee.
